Janet Oberle was named assistant director of athletics for compliance and student services in July 2006 after serving as director of compliance for three years. She ensures athletics department compliance for Atlantic 10 Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. She supervises admission procedures and academic progress for student-athletes.
She was named director of compliance in July 2003 after five seasons on the women's soccer coaching staff. She originally joined the Saint Louis University staff in 1997 as the women's soccer graduate assistant and became the program's first full-time assistant coach in 1998. Oberle was named associate coach in February 2003 before moving to the department's administrative staff.
A charter member of the Billikens' women's soccer team in 1996, Oberle competed in the program's inaugural season after enrolling as a graduate student. Although she had not played intercollegiate soccer until she came to the University, Oberle wasted little time in displaying her defensive talents. She earned third-team All-Conference USA honors and started all 20 games.
Prior to her brief collegiate career, the St. Louis, Mo., native prepped at Nerinx Hall High School under current Billiken coach Tim Champion, where she earned All-League and All-Conference accolades.
Oberle received her bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Illinois in 1996 and received a master's degree in urban affairs from Saint Louis in 1999. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in higher education.
